Electric Fence Continued!
Think of the journey we have been on with this activity, what has occurred through out the days of doing this, how have things been for you during this and what needs to happen for us to become complete with this? Don't forget Monday is fitness and Tuesday we will continue with the Electric Fence.

I think that it was really great that when a few people said they were uncomfortable, the class tried to work with them to see how they would be comfortable to cross. People have to keep trusting each other and communicating, especially with the trust falls.
ReplyDeleteI think, although we're really slow at getting this task accomplished, we are improving skills such as communication of ideas, trust, and working together. At first, we didn't do circle time to discuss ideas and that's why everyone was so disorganized. No one new what was going on. Once we managed to get in a circle, we were able to come of with a group plan and practice aw well as execute it. Our group also learned about trust. Especially those people who were thrown over the fence. They leared to trust the people to catch them and not let them hurt themselves or fall. Over all, in the end we learned to work together. We helped people get over the highest part of the rope and we also helped those who were uncomfortable with the idea of going over go over. If we can keep up this teamwork, trust, and communication, then I think we can accomplish this goal eventually.
ReplyDeleteWe have come a long way as a class since the first day of the electric fence. Once we started communicating as a whole, not in separate cliques, we were a lot better off. I think we have started learning to trust our classmates to help us and keep us safe both physically any emotionally. Although some get discouraged because this activity is taking a while to complete, we have to stay positive and know that we can get this done, but only if we all communicate and work together to achieve this common goal.
ReplyDeleteFrom the beginning of the Electric Fence exercise, I think what we have improved on the most is patience. At the start, everyone was itching to get started but now it's a lot more peaceful (except for the crazy trust fall part). And because of the calmer atmosphere I think it's a lot more comfortable, which makes us succeed more (we got a lot of people over before the bell rang last time). If we can keep it up, we'll definitely be done soon. Also, at the beginning, it was really hard for me to get my ideas heard. Now it's a little easier.
ReplyDeleteFor the first few days, there really wasn't any communication. One group was problem solving while everyone else was just talking. We solved this latter by getting everyone into a circle, but we still started off slowly. As for getting over, I'm not sure how good doing trust falls, or otherwise throwing people over is, but it seems to be working. So hopefully come tuesday we'll finish this activity.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed increased communication and ideas as time goes on. We found a way that seems successful so far so hopefully we'll finally be done Tuesday...
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning, we didn't really discuss how we wanted to go about getting everyone over the rope, we just jumped into it. I think we have gotten better at planning how we want to accomplish the task and communicating how it will get done. However, I think there can still be a little more communication with how the groups in the middle will get over the rope because the groups on both ends have it planned out and are completing the task, but the groups in the middle don't know how to get over, and people aren't discussing it because they're focused on the end grous.
ReplyDeleteI feel like the ideas we have are good and that we'll be able to make them work. It's taken so long for us to get our act together though. I think that's because we all come up witha good idea but it takes a while to get started and anyone who isn't involved forgets about the task that we're doing. We just need to stay focused as a class.
ReplyDeleteI think at the beginning no one was really willing to listen to other ideas, they just wanted to do it their own way. Now i think we have improved as a class and were taking others ideas into consideration which is why we are finally making progress and getting over the fence. For some it may be a little scary but i think if we keep encouraging them and helping them through it, we will accomplish the task.
ReplyDeleteI feel like we have made a lot of progress so far. I know that we have people who share their ideas, which is great, but the thing is, people don't listen at times. I feel that we should all really listen to those ideas instead of just letting it go through one ear and out the other. In order for this to work, we all need to accept what is going on. Also, I know that we like to talk to our friends which isn't bad, but i think that even though we should help each other out. That means even if you aren't going over that particular area, you can still help out or atleast pay attention.
ReplyDeleteI think throughout this activity we have become more and more communicative. Also, we have begun to trust one another more. I think in order for us to complete this task, we need to get more involved and share/incorporate others' ideas. We need to work together more.
ReplyDeleteWhen we first started this activity, everyone was off doing their own thing. There was only a couple people of leading the whole class which cause everything to be disorganized. Everyone wanted to just get over the rope and not have any discussion with how that would get accomplised. As we continue the activity, more people are starting to help and communicate thier thoughts rather then just one person. Even though the circle is a pain to get into, it actually helps with communication skills so then everyone can see and hear everyone. If we want to make it over the rope, we have to stop all the side communication. People like to go off into their own groups but if we all just work together, we will finally be able to just finish this activity and move on. Hopefully people will be willing to help out so it won't take us another whole week to complete.
ReplyDeletei think some of the people that were uncomfortable with this event need to start tking some chances. there is oly one way to find out that yp can not do that event.
ReplyDeleteI think we need to work together but spend a little less time conversing with each other in seperate groups and come together as a class to discuss, test ideas, and get over. We have almost made it, we just need to take our time and try not to make mistakes and work as a group so everyone knows what is going on. IO must say we have definately imporved since the beginning.
ReplyDeleteoverall i think this is a great teambuilding activity. fustrating at times but you learn to trust everyone more and stuff.

i also think that we did improve on patience, but i think that even if we fail this activity, the main point is to earn something else. if we do get over, then thats great! if we don't get over, that's okay , but if we got someting out of the activity, then, that's awsome!
ReplyDeleteand i also think that some people don't care about this class and just say whatever and doesn't participate.
In the electric fence activity shows us all the aspects we have to work on. For one thing when we did the electric fence as one section, it was harder for us to finish because there was a greater chance for touching the rope. It showed us how we lacked communication and trust. It was a good thing that people accepted that there were people that were uncomfortable with the groups ideas. And i thank them.
ReplyDeleteWhen the fence was divided into segments, it provided a sense of fear and comfort. The people who originally had fear could now get across the fence with trust. It also made some people uncomfortable, especially at the high end. In this activity we had to have communication, responsibility, trust and fun. We learned to accept our faults. and when we didn't, we would have to start over.
The activity also challenged us emotionally. When we were getting people over, we sometimes forced people. This was shown by their faces. To me i felt dishearten to make them cross the france. One of the possible factors was that there was lots of small group conversations. We were not getting the idea to everyone.
In the divided rope everyone could share their idea of how they were going to get over. This helped the communication because everyone ended up with a solution that everyone in the group liked.
The issue with us not finishing is because some people do not care about the activity and do not made the rope be an electric fence in their minds.
I think we are improving our skills and being patient. Even though we are really slow, I think the main point of this activity is to work together.
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning, the class as a whole didnt communicate well. But now that we are almost done, I think we have learned to help each other more and to listen to what others have to save. I agree that this class is meant to challenge us and we shouldnt be afraid to take chances. I liked the idea of the trust fall because almost everyone was involved and I have to say it was the most excilerating thing we have done so far. It was cool to be able to trust the other people not to drop me. If people are willing to take chances, then I think this class will better succeed. We still have to learn to be patient with everyone and to understand others limits (how far they are willing to go). I also like how we have certain leaders in class, as well, that help to lead other students.
ReplyDeletei think we have improved since the beginning, for the most part. lately, i think people are over thinking it and planning it out too much. it frustrates me how we spend the entire time planning out what to do because then we never have any time to actually do the activity. i think right now we have a good plan as to how to do it, so hopefully we'll be able to finish by tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI think this activity has brought our class closer as a single functioning entity. If we as a class need to finish the activity, then we as a class need to cooperate, work as a team, and find our way to the finish line.
ReplyDelete:)
I think overall we did a good job. at first we definately were having our problems, but once we figured out what we were doing things worked out well..I didn't really get that frustrated when people accidently touched the rope cause i knew it could have just as easily been me who touched the rope so it was all good. glad we finally finshed... now for getting over those "walls".. that's a whole new battle!
ReplyDeleteIT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!! i was really scared at first when you had to just be lifted and fall back but then after i did it a few times i realized that i can trust them to catch me and it ended up being lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteI really liked that the group was willing to work with people who were uncomfortable with going over the fence. Plus it was great how every one helped no matter which side of the fence they were on. And when the whole group got organized into the different sections it worked out really well once the group had a plan.
