The marbles represent the climber and the channels/holders of the channels represent the belayers, ropes, anchor, etc. The channels were there to keep the marble safe and on track to get it to its destination. When climbing, the belay team is there to keep the clmiber safe and help them to the top and back down. We all have to stay focused and work together to complete our ultimate goal of safety. We also cannot get frustrated when we don't reach our destination the first time, but we have to be committed to safety and keeping the climber above the ground.
I feel that with both activities we have to be mindful of everything that is going on around us. If we don't pay attention to what others are doing, what we are doing doesn't help much especially if the two are not on the same page. In the channels, if we only pay attention to the marble while it is on our track then how do you know if it is ready to leave without someone else being there to pick it back up. In climbing, if everybody doesn't pay attention to the climber or belayer then whose to say we won't notice if something is about to go terribly wrong and we won't be able to fix it. I like both activities though, they are fun.
So the marble obviously represents the climber and the track represents the climb. Going to backwards and not following directions will not only waste time, but most likely make it harder to climb further. Going to fast caused everything to fall apart, everyone starts to rush around trying to do anything, people start to get in the way of people, and the marble falls anyways, meaning that our climber has also fallen. Unlike the marble, we can't simply pick up our climber and start again like nothing happened. Also, if you're not in place as the marble keeps going, your section of track is gone and the marble/climber falls. What I saw from this activity was that not many people were really trying to succeed and just plowed right on through breaking every rule. So even though everyone understood the point of the activity, everyone I was with wasn't trying all that hard.
The Channels, more specifically, the channel holders represent the blayers. The marble represents the climbers. The blayers--channel holders--have to work together to help the climber, the marble, get the the top or the metal can. If people don't work together, thent the marbles--climbers--can be in dangerous situations and fall. Everyone needs to communicate and help each other.
I think the marble represented the climber and everyone holding the channels represented the belay team and how easily we were distracted and dropping the marble shows how easily we can get distracted and drop the climber if he/she falls and were supposed to catch them
The marble is the climber and the channels were the rest of the belay team. We got pretty distracted when we were doing the channels because a marble is a lot less important than a person. But we still should have been more careful with the marble because we need to practice being focused when it actually comes to climbing. We also had to communicate with each other and get make sure we went slow enough so the marble stayed safe.
i think the connection is that you cant get distracted because it can cause harm. since there were so many groups and everyone was rushing and running, it caused distractions and caused marbles to fall. So, even when climbing, we shouldnt get distracted. Also, the connection between the two is that you cant rush through it, you have to be slow and take your time.
In this activity, I think that the purpose of the channels are same as the purpose of the belayers and anchors. People who hold channels should be careful not to fall the marble down and control themselves. Belayers and anchors also have to be careful not to fall the climber down.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i wasn't here that day, mr. h. haahah i was reading other people's thingy and im like.... no comprende. does this still count as a blog thingy? hahaha uhm. i am not a climber. i have noticed this. i can't climb. but i still try. i like climbing, but i don't think im a climber. i like encourageing people better.
the activity showed us that we all have to be paying attention and working together the whole time, just like in climbing, or else the marble, or person, will fall.
basically in order to get the marble into the can we all had to be totally focused and work together. Same goes for climbing,...if we want to do it safely and correctly then everybody in your group has to be focused and working together to make sure everything goes smoothly
The entire channel group activity dealt with being a functioning and communicating group whether doing the biggest or smallest things. We have to be delicate with one another and make sure everything runs smoothly because the smallest error can, well, you get the picture.
The connection I got with the channels and climbing was that you hve to be patient with eachother and pay the most attention to the person climbing because they're the ones who could be potentially hurt Sam pennington
i think the marble symbolized climbers and the connection between this activity and climbing is that we need to concentrate and cooperate well in order to save the marble or the climber.
The marble represented the climber while the people holding the channels were the belayers. It showed us that if we get easily distracted and try to rush the climber or marble, we will cause them to fall while they are climbing. It also showed us how when climbing the climber encounters many bumps and everyone else in the group needs to be there to help give them encouragement and a boost to keep going and not give up.
Both the marble activity and climbing involve every single person in the group focusing and working together as a team. The marble represented the climber, and the channel holders were the belaying group. This activity showed us that even if one person slips up, someone can get hurt (the marble will fall).
The activity was fun and very much connected to climbing. To me the marble was the climber and the little bumps, were the tubes met, were the rocks. We were the backup system and it showed how focused we had to be. We had to be aware of the rules given to us and of the other groups around us, working to achieve the same goal. It showed that we had alot of room for improve meant. The teams were not really a system but just two people running the whole thing. It showed that as a team we are easily vunerable to be distracted, such as outdoor adventure two.
In this activity, the marble represented the climber, the channels represented the climbing wall or the "climb" itself, and the people holding the channels represented the belayer. This activity showed that the marble, or "climber" is in a still precarious situation no matter how securely they are fastend to the rope, and that they could fall at any time. Also, it showed that not only the belayer had to pay attention. Everyone, even the people not holding the marble in their channel had to watch what the marble was doing. If not, the marble, or climber, will fall. This relates to climbing because we all need to work together as a team, as well as care for the safety of everyone.
Being careful with the marble is like being careful with the climber. It shows that attention and communication among everyone is important so the climber/marble won't fall. Because the marble was so easy to drop, it really tells us to be careful because one moment of distraction could end in an accident. Also, it shows that all the members in the group are important. Just like the channels, if one person messes up, it usually ends poorly.
The marble needs to be handled carefully or it'll drop, just like a climber. It's important that everyone is paying attention and communicating well. Since we were easily distracted, it showed that the climber could fall at any time.
We had to handle the marble carefully or it dropped, just like a climber. We also needed to be working together, staying focused, and communicating. Distractions were also common, and we needed to protect against those.
In this activity, it showed us how well we worked together because we had to get the marble to go down channels. The marble represented the climber. We needed to work together in order to get the marble into the bucket. The moral is that team work and communication is crucial in order to be safe and focused.
